Reception
Let’s revise the vowel digraphs ai and ee
Can you please help your children to learn the following
tricky words (which can't yet be decoded)
said, have, like, so,
do, some, come, were
Can they use their phonic knowledge to sound out the words
shown http://www.letters-and-sounds.com/resources/p4poly.pdf
(no need to print out, you could just copy the words or read
from a screen).
There is a game to play here https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/4/sentence-substitution-ph4
Which uses all the sounds they have learned so far.
As before, this is the video of the song we have used in
class to say the names of the letters as well as the sounds they make – our
alphabet song…
There are games that we have played in class on:
Maths
There are more great activities on https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/
(summer term week 10 and the ‘Oliver’s
vegetables’ section). As before there
are 5 days worth of activities here based around a book, but you don’t have to
have the books to do them. They are all
very practical activities that you can do, there is no need to print anything
off, just download the ‘get the activity’ for each day.
PE
Joe Wicks is still doing PE sessions, but only 3 times a week now at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ
he is live at 9am but you can watch any time after as well. RCT have produced some guidance and activities
too, which is available here http://d6vsczyu1rky0.cloudfront.net/33281_b/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Wellbeing-Pack-Four-Diet-and-Exercise.pdf
Topic
Our topic for the last half-term is called ‘Splendid
Skies’ and is all about the weather.
Can you create a dance involving the wind? You could move
like a leaf on a tree, live a wave, a windmill or a flag blowing in the
breeze. You could link it to a breeze, a
whirlwind or even a tornado. Could you
take some photos or even make a video?
If you would like to get creative, can you design something
that would fly in the air, like a kite or an aeroplane. You could make a ‘junk model’ using
recycling.
Reading
Keep reading as much as you can! If you need any logins (oxford reading buddy
/ hwb / study ladder) please let me know.
Study ladder
I have added more activities onto study ladder: www.studyladder.com
I have been working on creating a new website for our
school, and this is now live at www.llanharanprimary.com
if you would like to have a look. It is
still a work in progress!
School re-opening
I am really looking forward to seeing Reception this
week. I plan to give everyone some
personalised learning on maths and phonics to bring home as well.
Hope you are all well and continue to stay safe.
Mr
Griffiths
